Book Review: Women who run with the wolves

Although the message of the book was good, it was the most boring and repetitive writing I have ever experienced.

The main gist of the book is that women have for centuries been driven away from their real nature and have overtime lost touch with their true feminine instincts. As a result they become vulnerable to attacks on their psychology, self esteem and identity. They have forgotten they are powerful complete entities in this world and need to reconnect with the feminine spirit or goddess (who has been represented in cultures world wide in many manners)

This gist of the book has been told and retold by using short stories from various folklore as examples where each character and incident is analysed as a part of female/human psyche and how it behaves in different situations.

Some of those stories are relatable and some are interesting. Some are downright horrifying.

But the most frustrating and boring part is the analysis which is highly repetitive and sometimes does not makes sense due to the complicated concepts and words used unnecessarily.

Sometimes the writer turns into a poet to explain her emotions and uses poetic verses which to me were un-relatable.

I bought this book as it was recommended for me on Amazon and had high reviews. I really think those reviews were due to heavy marketing and possibly paid for because noone in their right mind could enjoy the writing style.

After having gone through the first 100-200 pages, I could not go on to torture myself any longer so i skipped over much and read through only the stories and gist of the explanation of psyche.

I found comments on amazon review who felt the same as me and also got caught into this due to amazon's recommendation. Some were absolutely sure this writer got paid by the word because of the number of times she has used synonyms to explain the same point.

Lastly, the book has indeed a true concept and strikes some chord with women esp. those who have been much repressed. But at the same the writing could have been so much better if they made it more interesting and simple.

I would rate this book 2/5 inspite of the goodness of the concept.
